There are a wide variety of rubber and plastic products, which can be divided into static sealing products and dynamic sealing products according to their working conditions. O-ring is widely used for sealing static and reciprocating motion components. Oil seals are widely used for sealing rotating shafts. O-ring and oil seal, accounting for more than half of the total number of sealing products (see color picture). The operation of rubber seals is achieved through the contact between rubber and the sealed part. For example, oil seals are in contact with the rotating shaft surface at a certain pressure through the small area of their lips and achieve no oil leakage under fluid lubrication. O-ring seals are achieved by applying cross-sectional compression force to the rubber ring, so high elasticity, oil resistance, and aging resistance of the rubber material are required.

In recent years, power return oil seals have been developed in the field of rotary seals. The pattern on the lip of this oil seal has a return effect, which can push the leaked oil back into the sealing chamber during operation. In the field of reciprocating sealing, rubber and plastic composite seals are being developed, which use rubber as a compression elastic seal and plastic as a wear-resistant support to achieve good sealing performance and low friction. In order to study the function of sealing components and improve the quality of sealing products, more and more attention has been paid to simulation testing, and various simulation test benches have been developed. In terms of production technology, high-temperature, multi cavity, non adhesive edge molding and injection molding vulcanization have been developed, and in the future, they will develop towards automation and specialized large-scale production.
